Elena has worked globally in the nonprofit sector for 10 years in education and education-to-employment programs for underserved populations. Throughout her career, she has advocated for girls’ access to education in developing countries and improvements in college completion and career entry among first-generation college students, among others.
She brings expertise in program design, implementation and evaluation to the Thrive team, where her primary objective is to ensure employees’ job entry into the professional IT sector and sustained upward career growth, breaking the cycle of poverty.
Elena earned a BA in anthropology from the University of Cincinnati and an MA in international development from the University of Denver. Having lived in Nicaragua, Peru, Colorado, and most recently California, she recently returned to her native Cincinnati to be closer to family. She loves to travel and cook and looks forward to any opportunity to backpack, especially in remote areas.
